Quick rhythms

A quick change makes rhythms pop. Picking your chords is essential to make sure you can swap chords fast. Go to lesson.

C Chord

Harder than it looks

The Open C Major chord is a strong chord that uses the 1st, 3rd, 5th in order. Add your little finger to the 3rd fret on the high E string to repeat the 5th for variety. Go to lesson.

G Chord

Big sound

The Open G Major chord is a big chord that can fill a room. Add your third finger to the 3rd fret on the B string to repeat the 5th more punch. Go to lesson.

Hammer-strum

Attacking a chord

A hammer-strum is using parts of a chord as a hammer-on which produces a unique tone – careful though, not all chords sound great using this. Go to lesson.

Cut

Making Rhythms with rests

Cutting is just deadening the strings which allows you to stop your rhythms from being the whole note until your next strum – adding in a rest. Go to lesson.

Emphasis

Using strums to highlight

Emphasis allows you to focus on certain beats in a rhythm so that you can change the feel of a song – works well paired with a kick and snare on drums. Go to lesson.
