Free guitar lessons
7 minute music has an offer for all Australian school students in 2023 to sign up for free membership. All you need is a valid school email address used in your sign up. This will give you access to the tracking features and all the levels.
There is no catch. No advertising. No sales pitch. We just want people using the site so we can tailor our lessons better. If you are not sure if this is for you check out a few lessons in level 1 or 2 first.
What we need:
A valid student email used in sign up. You won’t be charged anything or need card details but you will have the account suspended if its not a school email account.
The discount code: TOTALFREE. If you don’t put this in you can be charged. We can refund but its a right pain so just use the code!

What should I do with my free guitar lessons….
Well that depends if you have played guitar before.
If you are a total beginner check out the Basics.
If you have just started playing then start at Level 1 – Scale – Am Scale. Then just choose your own adventure from there.
If you have played for a little bit and know a chord or two I would skip straight to Level 3 – Rhythm.
And if you have been playing for a few years then dive into Level 5 – Technique to get straight to the good stuff.
NOTE: You will need to enrol before you can get above level 3.
Are you a school that is interested in accounts for students?
A generic school account can be set up so that students can sign in anonymously. This is good for keeping data safe and recommended for any student emails that may have identifying information such as names. School accounts do not need any card details either – we will only check that the email account is a “.edu.au”.
Schools can manage student access through setting up seats through a group account – please get in contact to set these up – Email.
Online Safety
We are aware that many schools are taking precautions to keep students safe online and we support this in any way we can.
Please note that 7 minute music has:
- No external advertising
- No songs other than the ones developed specifically for the course
- No religious or anti-religious content
- Minimal reference to external music artists (Jimi Hendrix and BB King are referenced)
- Content is written by a registered Australian teacher
Students are welcome to sign up for a free account using their student email address, though please stress that they should not use the same password as their school login. In the event of a data breach this would leave them vulnerable.
We will never ask for any details from students beyond the sign up form. All that is required is a student email using an Australian school account (.edu.au). Students using non-school accounts will be suspended.
Emails to students will be limited to automated welcome and account information notices; and information on any new 7 Minute Music or New Style Teaching courses available. No external providers will ever have access to account information.
The free account will be valid for at least until Jan 2024. We will review the usage and adjust our free account program early in 2024.

- Practise and rehearse to refine a variety of performance repertoire with increasing technical and interpretative skill (ACAMUM101)
- Interpret and perform music with technical control, expression and stylistic understanding.
- Use aural skills to recognise elements of music and memorise aspects of music such as pitch and rhythm sequences.
- Use knowledge of the elements of music, style and notation to compose, document and share their music.
