Beats Per Minute
Beats per minute is a measurement used in music and guitar playing that is basically the speed of the song. It skips all the confusing classical words for tempo that is used in classical music and gets to the point. You should really get to understand the different speeds and what is fast and what is slow. Why you ask? When you practice you should use a metronome which you set to a BPM (beats per minute). This really helps with your timing and can work as a good measure of your improvement. Start practicing a scale at a low BPM then work your way up faster and faster. If you make a mistake drop it back down until you get it right. This lesson goes hand in hand with the quarter note and eighth note lessons found at https://7minutemusic.com/time/level-1/1-4-notes/ and https://7minutemusic.com/time/level-2/1-8-notes/. The supporting material can be found at https://7minutemusic.com/time/level-2/beats-per-minute/. If you keep your practice up with BPM in mind it will be much easier when it comes time to record to as the recording software uses BPM as the main measure that you use to set your timing.
