Tablature – Scales
Well, if you landed on this video I am about to teach you why you shouldn’t learn Tab. Guitar tab is the Mc Donald’s of the guitar lesson world – It’s everywhere, its easy to get, initially satisfying, but really not good for you in the long run. Guitar tab is a super simple way to find out what fret on what string to play to learn music. I may put it down but it is really helpful when you are just stuck on trying to work out a song. The main issue is there are lots of notes on the guitar, so many different ways to play scales, that you really limit yourself if you don’t learn them. Once you know a scale you really don’t need a tab – you just know where those notes will be. And if you really want to know the timing and everything else notation is far superior. So yeah… dive in get a sugar fix and then head on for a more substantial meal. If you haven’t already, check the lesson on notation – https://7minutemusic.com/theory/level-2/notation-scales/.
Backing Track – A minor to E minor
Tablature has lines that represent strings on a guitar upside down – the top string on the guitar is the bottom line on the tab.
Each number represents the fret to push down.
Use tab to find the position on the fretboard that a scale is used for a particular song
